    While I was tutoring Thomasina today, she casually asked me what “carnal embrace” meant. I was caught off guard at first because I wasn’t expecting to have to explain to my 13 year old student that it was another term for sexual intercourse.     The Negative Effect of Using Opioids as Painkillers

    Currently in America, the epidemic of opioid addiction is running ramped. The drug dealers are no longer sketchy figures loitering on corners in the late night, they are pharmaceutical companies and poorly trained physicians prescribing opioids. It is the physicians obligation to aid their clients when their in pain. However, it is found more often than not that doctors are overprescribing their clients with opioids.     This article talks about how the FBI manages the Uniform Crime Reports (UCR). In brief words, the UCR is a data system that collects crime across the US, which is supplied by smaller law enforcement agencies. This article addresses some of the flaws within the UCR. One of the main flaws being how crimes are weighted. Vittert, the writer of the article, believes that crimes should be weighted. There are 2 parts of the UCR, the first part being the murder, rape, robbery, larceny-theft and arson (serious crimes) and the second part being simple assault, loitering, embezzlement, DUI’s, and prostitution (less serious crimes).
